Corvettes

The Corvette is perhaps one of the most iconic of all American cars, easily recognisable by its sleek styling and head turning looks. The Corvette has through its developement been through a number of changes but has always retained its sporty pedigree, it is perhaps during the late 60s with the introduction of the C3 shape that it became a classic. The stingray shape continued into the 80s before it was replaced with the sharper lines of the C4, however Corvette is returning back to its swoops with the C5 and C6 body shapes.

The 68 corvette had chrome front and rear bumpers, note the 'shark' like grills behind the front wheels

1973 bought in legislation that removed the chrome front bumper replacing it with a pedestrian friendly runner bumper, however 73 was the last year that retained chrome rear bumpers. Note sure how much safer the rubber front bumper is as it is at shin level!

By the late 70's the car was in the final C3 shape, with a glass window replacing the 'sails' of the earlier models

The C4 body shape was very 80s and business like, the smooth curves had gone to be replaced with angles to slice through the air rather than gliding through it.

This gorgeous example is of the mighty ZR1. A true supercar for the masses, unfortunately tho Chevrolet didn't support this car as much as initially thought and many of the parts are hard to impossible to find. The engine is an LT5 developed with Lotus replacing the SBC of before, later corvettes (non ZR1) used the LS and LT1's which are readily available through Chevrolets other ranges.

After the C4 shape had ran it's course it was replaced with the C5, which I think returns to the previous curves of the C3
